SHIRAKAWAGO GASSHO-ZUKURI
Shirakawago Gassho-Zukuri features houses built in the "Gassho-Zukuri" style with steep thached roof to prevent snow from accumulating.

GASSHO-ZUKURI FOLKLORE PARK
To see how rural people lived in centuries past, visit this open-air museum with gassho-zukuri houses and sheds filled with tools of everyday life. It also serve as an artist colony, with artisans engaged in such traditional handicrafts as woodworking, potery, weaving, inkdrawing and straw basket & hatmaking, placing their products for sale onsite. The buildings are picturesquely situated around ponds, paddies, flowerbeds, and streams.

YATAIKAIKAN HALL
Yataikaikan hall is the Festival Floats Exhibiton Hall featuring the huge floats, decorated with intricate carving, gilded wood, and detailed metalwork. They are paraded through streets during the Takayama Festival in autumn.

MORNING MARKET
There are two morning markets in Takayama; the one in front of Takayama Shrine and another along the Miyagawa River. Morning Market originates from mullberry tree market in early Edo era. Here, you can find local fresh vegetables, fruits, mountain vegetabules, thorough which you can enjoy delicacies of four seasons of Takayama. The market are open from early morning to noon every day all through the year.
